The Benefits of Seasonal Eating

3 July 2023

Seasonal eating is more than just a culinary trend; it's a mindful,  sustainable and health-conscious way of living. Here in the UK, we're fortunate to have a rich variety of fruits and vegetables that thrive in our temperate climate, and taking advantage of these fresh flavours is key to achieving optimal nutrition and supporting sustainable farming practices.

One of the most compelling reasons to eat seasonally is the nutritional advantage it offers. By choosing locally-sourced produce that's in season, we're able to enjoy fruits and vegetables at the peak of their freshness and nutritional value. When produce is picked ripe and consumed shortly after,  it retains more of its essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. So not only does this support our health, local farmers and sustainable farming practices, but it also helps to reduce our carbon footprint by cutting down on the transportation of out-of-season produce.

In addition to these seasonal delights, we also love incorporating loads of fresh herbs and greens like parsley, watercress and mint into our dishes. These flavourful ingredients add a burst of freshness and are loaded with vitamins and antioxidants that support optimal health.

At Karma Cans, we believe that food should be both delicious and nourishing. By choosing seasonal produce that's grown close to home, you can enjoy the freshest, most nutrient-dense ingredients possible whilst supporting our plant.
